Why condition Golfers’?
Even with today’s technological advances, it is still the player who has to stabilize, rotates the spine efficiently and uses 90% of peak muscle activity when driving a golf ball.

Repetitive overuse syndromes, muscle compensations due to postural imbalances, poor fitness levels, the aging process, sprains and strains often haunt the golfing population.

Back pain injury (53% male / 45% female), golfer’s elbow (medial epicondylitis) and tendonitis of the wrist are not uncommon ailments.
Golf is an athletic event and conditioning the body for such a high force complex movement only makes sense.

A Certified Golf Biomechanic analyzes how the body functions dynamically during the complex swing at quarter, half and full swings.  Address and putting posture, alignment, flexibility and length tension relationships are assessed.  Individual programs are based on these findings.

Flexibility issues are an ongoing process, as many golfers do not naturally possess the level of flexibility required for optimal swing function.  That is where corrective stretching, pre and post event stretches, proper warm-up techniques and energy mobilization exercises come in to optimized flexibility for golf.

Inadequate postural alignment, muscle imbalance and joint range of motion restrictions will have a negative effect on rotational abilities.  Golf is a rotational sport, and you must be able to rotate repeatedly with explosive speed.

Dynamic stabilization is the ability to stabilize oneself on instantaneous axis of rotation during the golf swing and maintenance of one’s centre of gravity during movement.  Neuromuscular isolation exercises and then integration exercises precede stabilization training to develop strong stabilizers of the thoraco-lumbar-pelvic region.

Final conditioning stages are strength-training exercises specific to muscle movement patterns for golf followed by a power phase for increase club head speed and distance.

A note from Doug Morgan about Jenny Grills

I have personally been associated with Grills Golf Fitness since October 2005.  At the age of 38 and after my second 3rd degree sprain of my left ankle, I became very aware that I needed to get my biggest piece of equipment in shape if I wanted to continue to play a high level of competitive golf.

Four years ago, I had a chiropractor, massage therapist and a Costco size bottle of Advil in my golf bag.
Today, I have none of these thanks to Jenny.

My fitness level continues to improve and even when I do get an ache or pain, I know what and how to stretch to relieve that discomfort.

If you are a player that continues to take lessons and don’t see any measurable improvement, you should serious think about getting an assessment done and invest in yourself.  Don’t buy another club until you get your biggest piece of equipment in shape.
