Learning the game of golf is not about getting to a destination, it’s about the journey and the experiences. The more experiences that you have the easier the journey becomes. If you are just starting, it’s best to gain some knowledge of the game. This knowledge would include the physical aspects of how to hold the club, where to position your body in relation to the ball and target plus the dynamic movements and coordination required to propel the ball forward and airborne.
As you progress, it is important to continue to work on the technical aspects of swinging the club. Hitting the ball with a full swing accounts for about 35 - 40% of the average golfer’s score. The other 60 - 65% comes from swings that are less than full, fairway and greenside bunker shots, pitches out of the trees or from the rough near the putting surface, chips from around the edge of the green and putts from on and off the putting surface.
If you’re an experienced player trying to improve, hitting balls will only ingrain the habits you already have. If you have taken instruction before, you may feel like making a change feels foreign, it instills doubt in your abilities, makes the set-up or motion uncomfortable and give you a sense of being alone. My goal is to help you understand the reasons why, relieve your anxious feelings and give you a plan, so that you will be better prepared both mentally and physically during practice and play.
I offer a variety of programs to help guide you on your journey. This includes group lessons for the new, novice and experienced players. I also offer one-time clinics on a variety of golf subjects, for those looking to improve specific parts of their game.
If your schedule doesn’t permit you to commit to a weekly group program, Private Coaching offers the flexibility to take lessons at your convenience.
Both Group and Private programs not only involve learning and improving techniques but they also address the physical, mental, emotional, tactical and social aspects of the game.
Hopefully you’ll find a program that interests or intrigues you and that will help improve your understanding and enjoyment of the game.
Private groups are welcome for one-day outings or for weekend schools. Send your details of your club, organization or group and I’ll design an afternoon or weekend program specifically for you.
Thanks for stopping by and here’s to another great season on the links.
